The government’s new initiative of ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ majorly covers daily wages and labourers. Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that this initiative will come into practice from June 1, 2020. This will be a major reform from the perspective of common man.
Under this initiative, all the eligible beneficiaries would entitled food grains. This will be allocated as per the National Food Security Act. The food grains can be available from all Fair Price Shop (FPS) in the country. With the same ration card they can take benefit of the scheme.
Biometric Authentication will Take Place to Confirm the Beneficiaries
The scheme would be applicable after the biometric enabled Aadhaar authentication which would be done on ePos devices. The Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public explained about the initiative in the Lok Sabha.
The service of inter-state portability unde the initiative would be made available. However, it would require FPSs with complete online ePoS devices.
Additionally, the Minister also made it clear that the scheme would be implemented completely from 1 June, 2020.
Moreover, this service would majorly help the migrant beneficiaries such as blue collar workers, labourers, and daily wagers. This section people of frequently change their location in the search of work. Additionally, there also many other reasons for their migration across the country.
The government has already taken the necessary steps for the successful launch of ‘One Nation One Ration Card’. The Minister has directed Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to design a proper structure for implementation of this initiative.
We will have to wait for the launch of the initiative. However, this certainly looks promising in the favor of needy people. We will get to know the actual ground reality once the scheme resumes on June 1. Till then stay tuned for further developments.
